An extraordinary general meeting of the Wellington Meat Export Company will be held at the Chamber of Commorce on May C to consider the propriety of delaying the order for freezing machinery trom England. It will be remembered that the. directors were pretty evenly divided on this question, and that the order was carried by a majority of one, A wish having been expressed by several shareholders for a further discussion on the point the meeting referred to lus been called. Of course the object in view is to ascertain if the ultimate success of the Company would-be likely to be enhanced by a temporary.delay which would perhaps Becure more perfect machinery, a lower freight, and possiblya better Bupply of meat, The attendance at the shareholders' meeting is not likely to he a numerous one, but it will include all thuso who have a considerable Btake in the venture, and the many points of detail which have to be weighed before a decision can be arrived at will no doubt be fully discussed. We have every confidence that the verdict of the meeting will be a prudent one, and that it will tend to relieve the directors of a grave responsibility,

News of the result of the interview between Sir Arthur Gordon and Sir George Grey is now eagerly looked for. We anticipate L that Sir George will not be asked to form a Ministry, and that he will probably, if this prove to be the case, object to giving the Governor any advice,
