ORDINATION SERVICES AT WAIHENGA.
iNTEiiESTiNq and impressive servioeaia conneoiipu with the ordjpation and induction of the Rev John Stewart were held at Waihenga on Monday last, Notwithstanding the unfavorable state of the weather, a large number of persons were present from all parts of the Lpwer Yajley, Th,e rnenibprs of Presbytery present were the jjey J. MoKee, J. Paterson, and C, Qgg, The Rev j. MoKee preached and presided, the Rev J. Paterson addressed the newly inducted pastor, and the Rev C. Ogg gave good counsel i and udyice to the people, It is uot too much to say that the sprmpn and addresses pre of jv high order, pd ws}\ apprpoiated, by the congregation |hat \yas, packed ln-the small church. Mr Stewart was solemnly ordained and inducted aa pastor of the congregation, after which he received a hearty "welcpme from the ~ people. Special mention was made of the generosity ot those presept who had gratuitously provided him with the (jorses n.pces.sary for the working of so large a district i ajso thp vpluntary gift of a buggy by the two fresbytprjap congregations of Weilingfop.
Thp Eev A. Ogg, in a. happy Bpeooh alluded to the strong Scptcli element in the district, and urged upon all to hold fast (o (ho principles of (hat religion for whjcl} their forefathers hied, He deprecated m no measured tones thp conduct pi tliotp who forsook the church of thpir fathers nierply because their circumstances had improved and the fashions of the day had invited. The Rev J. McJtee and J, Paterson also gave suitable speeches,' bearing mainly upon the duties and obligations of pastor and people. The proceedings of the evening were enlivened by musical selections, rendered by friends lVoiu Mastevton and Kuiwaiwai., The Bcrvices throughout passed off without a hitch, and the heartiness of the people clearly indicated their high esteem of Mr Stewart.
