The usual monthly meeting of Ihe aboyeBoard was held on Saturday last. Present—Messrs Donald (Chairman), Jackson, Matthews, Bidwill, McDougall, Eiddiford, and Martin, ■ . The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, : .' - . The Treasurer made his usual monthly j report, stating that the credit balance at Bank of New Zealand was £953 9a 9d, and suggesting that a sum of £6OO be in. vested as a fixed deposit for six months. Resolved—That the Treasurer's recommendation to lodge £6OO as a fixed' deposit for six months be adoptedi Thef ollowing accounts were then pissed for payment
From Waiohine River Board, notifyiug : i" that a rate be made of Is in the £ for 1882 and 1883,-From W. H. P.Jones, '■ re the drain along Kempton road.-From : " : ' v John Murphy, complaining that the ab- • aouce of a culvert on Murphy's line caused inconvenience. The outgoing .correspondence waßread from the letter book. ' The following tender was then received for the metalling of Kahautara and Heifer stations :-* Road forraatiou (about 25 ohains)-W. C. Buokeridge, 25s per chain (acoeptod). Eeßolved—That a rate of 9d in the .£ be now made on the value of the rateable properties as.appearing on the valuation roll in force for the year commencing Ist April, 1882, and ending 81st March, 1883; •' and that suoh rate be made payable on Monday, the 3rd of April, 1882, in one ''■'■ sum. mi.i '• .. ... ■ i

Mr Jackson asked for leave to do some metalling on Ward's line, between KnappV '' and Ward's gate j also to give him per- - ; - mission to let the work of oleaning out the drains on Ward's line, for whioh (as tenders had been put in) leave was granted,.
