A meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, Proaont Messrs. ':W.\ 0. Buchanan (Chairman), Meredith; Chamberlain, Vallance, and Dagg, The Chairman called attention to the want of punctuality at meetings, and it was decided thatin future members should endeavor to attend at 10 a,m. as punctually as possible, A petition for alterations to the eastern boundary was read, Itwasdebideid when

A letter was also road from County West, asking the Board lo favorably entertain a request to hand over to them a raoioty of tho rates accruing from propertie3 in Afredton district to meet the neceseary repairs required for roads in that locality. -Held over till the Warden could attend. , ~. ■'. (/ A letter was also read from the County West Council intimating that it had taken ovor the Great Northern road as a County road. A letter was read from the Colonial Secretary re Miss Jean's,claim, and it was deoided to request tho Government to push the matter on at once! '■■'■ A letter was read from the Mauriceville settlers calling the Board's,attention to tho necessity 'of .continuing, the formation of the road to their sections in West Mauriceville, It was resolved] that the Clerk reply, enclosing a -statement of the financial position of that quarter of the district, and the amount' of contracts let by the Board in Mauriceville,
A letter was read froin! Mr George Moore, re culverts required on ; the Blairlogioroad. It was resolved that Mr, Moore be informed that he could'•'■ljayo culverts erected at 25a each, subject, to the engineer's specification. '■•'•.
TENDERS.' ', ~; Tho following tenders were considered : -Fomridge road '.contract:'i}Botloriek McKenae, L4l; Poterson, L 4 4; Osboume L4415b; T. Hart, L 33 15s (accepted.) Taucra metalling: Donald MoKonaie. L 210; C. Petersen, L 196; S. Hart, L 166 03; Qillard, L 137 5s (accepted subject to contribution.) Wainuiotu road : Parker, L 941 Girdwood, L 57105; Savage & Co. LB ( J 10s (accepted subject to approved sureties.) A loinj decision took place as to the distribution of the Board's share of £BOO voted by County East. The Chairman moved and Mr Vallauce seconded-That 170 bo expended on the Upper Taueru road, £135 on Kaumingi road, and £135 on the Wainuiom to Flat Point road. Mr Meredith moved an araeiulment, 1 ' That tho vote be distributed within the *. warilsm County East pro rata." Seconded by Mr Chamberlain. Tho Chairman subsequently altera! his motion to tho ofTeot "That on the uiulorslaudhig that this Board's sliaro of County East's .£BOO volo amounts to about 1340, tins Board recominonds its distribution as follows : £7O to Upper Taueru lino of road to assist in opening Crown lands to tho east ■ Hawkin's property; £135 to m-imbnno No 4 Ward for £312 upended onTauoruCastlepoint deviations, and £135 to reimburse No 5 Ward for expenditure expended on Flat Point road passing through a large block of Crown lauds." Mr Chamberlain said ho seconded tho amendment in error, believing that it was intended to include the Tauorn road. Mr Meredith contended that No 6 Ward had to contribute unduly to No 2 Ward, and tho Board's rule that each Ward should have two-third of its rates oxpeuded in it, had rot boon adhered to. The motion of tho Chairman was carried, Mr Meredith alone voted for the amendment,
Mr Stuokey waited on the Board with respect to a road to his property via Koikouta. It was resolved that the matter stand over till Mr Buchanan interviews the Government, depumions, Messrs McLachlan and Wrigley waited on the Board re a deviation in Mr McLachlan's land of the Opakt-Rangitu-ma'u road, It was decided that Mr Wrigley should inako an offer for the work by next Board meeting, and subject to specification to be drawn out by the engineer. Messrs Burnett and Holraos waited on the Board re road to Mr Burnett'B mill, Resolved that tonders be called for the work at once. Allen waited upon tho Board re his rates being excessive. Resolved that it does not lio in tho power of tho Board to alter the Valuation now, but- that .the matter would bo looked into noxt year. Messrs Cockburn and Exoll waited upon the Board re the state of a "portion of their road. Resolved that the 1 settler" be asked to contribute £2O and find metal and give their answer as to accopting this in a weok's(ime.'
Messrs McLachlan and McKay waited on the Board re the road leading to their properties.
