At the Tuapeka County Council sitting it was stated that Major Atkinson believed the Government would bring down a proposal next session to subsidise County Councils to the extent of £3 to £1 for the purpose of making main County roads, DROWNED. At Inch, Clutha, Pete Lawson, aged nine years, fell into the Clutha and was drowned.
