WELLINGTON EDUCATION BOARD.

♦— ,'A'special meeting.of the Education Board was hold this morning to coti3tdor nominations of candidates to fill the, vacaneies to bo created by the retirement on the 31stinat, of the Van. Archdeacon Steele, Rev.' J.,.Paterebn, ; aud'the Hon.'O. s'. Sjpnzyn, The members present were --The Hon. 0. if. Phara3y.ll (in the chair), Mr W. Hutchison, Dr Newman, Afr J. R. Blair. Mr H. Bunny, and the Ven. Archdeacon Stock. The following was announced to be the rcault of the ballot: -T, Mason, 26; Hon. G. R. Johnson, 17 i Rev. J. Pateraon, 17; Ven. ArchI deacon Stock, 15 j \V, 0, Buchanan, 14; W. Booth J8; J, G. Oox, 7 i Coleman' Phillips, G; Thomas Lidbetter, 2. The first three on the list were declared elected. The Board passed a vote of thanks to % Mr. Stock for the valuable services he had rendered during his term of office, and rogret was oxpreased at his retirement. Mr Stock congratulated the Board npbn the acquisition of the new members, remarking that he did not think thoy oould have got better men. The, Hon, 0, J. Pharazyn said he, could not retire' without expressing his thanks for the,support he had always received as Chairman of the Board during the seven years he had occupied that position. He.knew his short-comings, bqt the Board had tolerated them with great patience. It had been his cjesire to give every member of th,e Board jjfmple facility for ' expressing his wishes without referpnee to how many times he c ßpoke,as it was neoeseary to have the fullest discussion on questions coming before the Board, and he hoped the.Buoqessorwould do^the' same. The following appointrnfenta' were made —First Asaiatant, Mount Cook School Mr M'Morran; Aaaiatant, Maatertoa Mr Ford ; Pupil Teaoher, Petone School. Miaa Archer (from Mount Cook Boys' Sohnol); Infant Mistress, Hutt School, Miss Eiohards. Dr. Newman, Mr Blairl and Mr Hutchison were appointed a committee to draw up the animal report.
