GREYTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Greytown Borough Council was held last evening. Present His Worship the Mayor, Crs Baillie, Bright, Gallagher, Haigh, Thompson, Udy, Varnham. and Wakelin. The minutna of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence outwards was read from the letter book.

Muir, re erecting a verandah over footpath; from secretary Fire Brigade, with officers names, &c, It whb resolved on the motion of Cr Baillie, seconded by Cr Thompson, "That the offer of Mr Bock to find a suitable ro<>m with liahting and firing at a rental of £ls per annum be accepted." The clerk whs instructed to obtain necessary licensing forms from the Government printer. I An offer from Mr Conway to break 100 | yards of metal at 2s 6d per yard at the gravel pit was accepted. Mr Muii'a application was granted, Messrs Buillie and Mtwmra wore appointed &ire Inspectors, The repurts of the Works and Finance Committees, also Treasurer's arid Inspector's reports, were read and adopted, • It was resolved that fhe'surities of the Town Clerk, Messrs Fuller and Kimbefly be approved of, It was resolved on the motion of Cr Haigh seconded by Cr Gallagher.—" That Mr J. Montgomery he appointed working overseer at a sal iry of £2 per week with use of dwelling house, his duties to oom mence on March Ist and that he receive his instructions from the Works Committee " An egtiujatp of the receipts and expenditure for the ensuing year, having been read it was resolved that a rate of Is in the £ be a'vuck on the rateable value of Borough, and also that the estimate bo published according to tho Act. The appointments of the Firo lifspeotors were ordered to be advertised, • It was resolyed that the Clerk take out summonses at once against defaulting ratepayers. The meeting then adjourned.
