Most disastrous floods have occurred in Arkatisna and adjoining Stales in the South, owing to the overflowing of the Mississippi and its tributaries. An enormous extent of country is flooded,' thousands of homes have been devastated, and great loss »f lifo and stock has resuited. It is eatimatod that fully 50,000 persons havobeen rendered destitute, and that in the State of Arkansas alone 20.000 head of cattle have been drowned. . • The United States Senate is now discussing a Bill for the .total exclusion of Chinese from America.
