ANNUAL PRIZE FIRING.
(united press ASSOCIATION.) Bwottwater, this morning. Beautiful weather for the firing. All the representatives are now on the ground. Major Baillie is in command, The ranges are in good condition, and the shooting commences immediately after dinner. 1,40 p.m. TheWanganui men intend to protest against some of the Wellington, Thames, and Nelson representatives, on the ground that they had been practising at a range within a mile of the association's ranee, The stated distanoa between the targets has been measured and found to be within a mile. It. is understood that among those who will be protested against are some of the Wellington Navals, Thames Navala, and Nelson Volunteers, and that Paynter is inoluded among the latter. 2 p.m. The first and second prizes in the Nelson match being LlO and L 9 respectively have been struck out, and all other prizes reduced 25 per cent. With regard to the latter it will be re-considered by council and probably the amount doducted will be refunded when the association is iri funds,
