THE LATE PASTORAL SHOW.

[To the Editor of the Daily.| Slit—l wish to call, the attention of exhibitors at the late, pastoral show to some glaring mistaken in registering the' ■' awards of the 'judges for light horses at : ■ that Bhow. I sent from the Platform Farm three exhibits—lst, The Baron (highly commended; 2nd, Barry Lyndon (awarded first prize class 13); 3rd, Sooratea mare, with foal by The Baron,'the property of Mr J. Yates, Masterton, and , ' exhibited in his name (awarded iirst prize ckss 44.) Neither Mr Yates nor myself have received our certificates.' This has occurred through some unaccountable blundermg in .taking down the awards, and in Mr Yatea' case a certificate haa been awarded.to a mare that nevorcame on to the show ground, In the case of Barry Lyndon, I heard that Mr W. J. flix had got a certificate for his colt, that was passed oyer by tho judges in Ihesarae claas as my colt. This, of course, led me to. make enquiries. Mr Woliers, the secretary, of course stood up for the infallibility of his books, aiid maintained: that so much care had been taken by his clerks that a mistake could not occur; but at considerable trouble to myself, I convinced and proved to him that Barry Lyndon was awarded first prize in' classi ' 13: l ln making enquirie» re Mr Yates'" ' ; mare, I was informed that his certificate had been sent to Teiiui, but' in accidentally turning over the book used by the clerk for entering (ho awards at the show I found a mare had also been marked down as taking a first prize in the same class, ,that did not'coine to the show at all. ; : Consequently I leave the general public to > estimate the value of the Pastoral Aesooiation's pwards,. , • 'l'he fault does not certainly lay with Mr Woltern, who showed me every courtesy in sifting the matter, but os two such glaring errors have .occurred out of the three entries I made I think it only right to call exhibitors attention to the fact, and if #ny who were entitled to certificates have not received them it would be advisable to wake enquiries at once. lara, &c., , Benjamin Kimbermy, Platform Farm. • ■ Greytown : Tlip Spring Fashions tins, season are ex- i ■ ceedingly pretty, varied, and ohaste.
