An astid»nt of a most singular nature happened at the residence of Mr CO, Graham, the •Wellington Town Clerk, a day or so ago, which providentially tuated in nothingof 0 very serious nature, beyond-the fright.it occasioned Miss Grahams the eldest daughter of Mr Graham. It appears that a large and handsome porcelain lamp had been; placed on an occMipnal table near a window, the aspect'df:-which was exposed during the afternoon to the rays of the sun. The ohina ves'sieKof the lamp, would appear to have bscame intensely heated, and, whilst the reservoir wasln this condition, Miss Graham refilled it' with oil, which, for the j conditions of precaution and of safety, .was kept, in an underground cellar. The cool oil, upon being poured into the heated lamp f ,,..expanded, and burst, the porcelain reservoir, but fortunately'the gases of! he oil did not ignite, and, beyond a slight scare and the damage occasioned to the lamp and the carpet of the room, no other injury resulted. .- ..
