The temperance advocates in Masterton have determined to decide the question of the Licensing Committee appointments ns individuals rather than as a corporme 'lmdy. They may perhaps by this means save themselves from a defeat, but it would, in our opinion, have been far better fur them to have been beaten 1 fi till tiny; in the open," than to snatch possibly a temporary advantage from under cover. They will live to fight another day undoubtedly, but their prestige has been lost by their timorous tactics.
