' s ; Correspondence was read from the""' Public Works Office re fencine outside R.M.: Court, and from the Wairarapa West .County repayment of portion of clerk's salary. _Mr Callister: We have lost L 37 sub-' sidy, and a lot of rates have not been-col- ■' looted, would it not ho bettor for us ,to* separate-from the County Council and have our own clerk, 'TheClerk: I should bo glad if you would Rive me up. I shall be happy to give you up, Mr;' Armstrong; It is tho ratepayers' own fault, if they don't pay their rates they oannot export to get subsidy. Why had not notice been given before. Mr: Callister i The matter has been brought before the Board again and again, lam tired of it, The bank balance was reported at L 59 8s 4d.:. An account due to J, Rowe ot LI 7s waa passed for payment. Attention was then drawn to the state of the footpath, and on discussion it was resolved that Mr Alpinbe informed that ' unless he proceeded with the repairs within four days the work would be done by the Board. Notice having been given that the Telegraph Department employees had thrown certain boughs of trees growing on Mr Anderson's premises into the drain opposite, thereby obstructing the free passago of water, it was resolved that the clerk at once give notice to the Telegraph - : : Department.; to remove suoh boughs and obstructions. _ On discussion as to oponing roar roads in thej township on the East and 'West of the main road, known as Rut)apd and, Lincoln roads respectively, it was resolved on the motion of Ifr Armstrong secnnded.by Mr Vickerstaff, that tenders be.oalledifor falling and stumping the said road J2ft on each side after the ceiitro line, and that Messrs Parker and Callister prepare specifications. The clerk reported that on the current year tlere were about 143 of rates levied that would not begot in. The meeting broke up '
