PRESENTATION TO MR GEORGE BEETHAM.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, this day. The members of the Government have, through the Premier, presented Mr Geo. Beetham, M.H.R., with a handsome gold watch and chain in appreciation of his services as whip during 1880 and 1881. HON. PHARAZYN'S SENTENCE. The arguments in the personation case against the Hon. J. C. Pharazyn, taken before the Chief Justice this morning, His Honor held that the special verdiot was one of guilty, and sentenced the accused to one hour's imprisonment, this sentence to take effect from the commencement of sessions. TALE OF A TUBB. Tubb, was arrested on a charge of stealing LIOO belonging to the Firm of Tubb and Fergus, Timaru, has been remanded tb-Timaru. MR IVESS' PETITION. The petition of Mr Ivess against the return of Mr Watson for the Wakanui Beat has been received by the Chief Justice. ".
