BOROUGH RATES.

(To the Editor Waiharapa Daily.)

Sir,—Will you kindly publish the undermentioned facts'! I hold several properties in this Borough which brought me in an inoome of £SO for this outgoing year. On these properties I had to pay Si 10a W for rates, and Si for a subscription fur footpaths. Now, Mr Editor, when a mannas to pay 18 per cent out of his income for property in this Borough it is time to clear out, Last year I paid £9 for rates, of which sum I have been rated this year, but by appealing to the ABsesßment Court it was reduced to & 10s 7d. It is to be hoped that the Borough Council will make a gonoral reduction in the rates next year If they do not I advise all ratepayers to swarm the Assessment Court and appeal for a material reduction in our rates.

I am, &0., Ratepayer.
