MR BUCHANAN AT FEATHERSTON.

Mr % C. Buchanan addressed n crowded audience at .the Odd Fellows' Hall on Friday evening. Mr J. G, Cox in the chair, Mr Buchanan in the course of a few remarks stated that he came before them under many disadvantanes, being almost a stranger amongst them, but he trusted to their kind consideration to give him a patient hearing. Now the electorate of the Wairarapa had been divided, the old members seem to think they had a prior right to the two seats-Mr Beetham for the nnrlh and Mr Bunny for the south; and indeed Mr Boys had stated on more than one occasion that anyone living outBide the electorate had no right to contest an election in it„ however, he considered he was as fully entitled .to contest the district as anyone living in it.. He then in an able speeoh touched upon nearly every point of interest and topic of the day. The only objection taken to any of his remarks being on the Babbit question and their natural enemies the ferret and stoat which also, some one in the meeting remarked, are the natural enemies of the Poultry yard. At the close of the meeting a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Riddick, and seconded by Mr Toogond, was responded to unanimously, and the , meeting terminated- I
