ELECTION NEWS.
There is some uncertainty as to whether Mr C. Pharazyu will come forward at the present election. Hid opponents hold tliat he Trill not, but he himself has not in any way expressed an intention of retiring.
Mr George Beetlwm is now at Ilaatingi, in the Napier dish •>: Mr Coleman Plullhas from the first declined to come forward, and there it no probability of his altering his intention. We hear that seventy signatures hare been obtained to a requisition asking Mr A, W. Renall to express hia views at a public meeting, Mr Thomas W, Shute called at oui: office this mornim: and stated that h« wa# not connected with the new political association, He also tendered a letter for publication on the subject, but in such impertinent terms that we were compelled., to request him to leave the Office, anjT\. express a sinoere hope that he--<w7 never re-enter it. His visits are inlty tions which wo have long borne patiently, but from which we hope for the future to he relieved.
