W. & E.C. PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the above was held on Wednesday. Present—Messrs W. C. Buchanan (President), B. Boys, Bunny, H, McMaster, "\Y. Booth, W. 0. Bidwell, H, Braithwaite, and R. li, Armstrong. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
The question of judges whs then entered upon. The Secretary reported those who hud agreed and declined lo act, and those who had been written to from whom no reply lwd been received. The followinjr alternative juduea were nominated: —Draught horses, Mr A, Brown ; light horses, Messrs A. Young, W. Hately, and J. & A. Higgie ; cattle and sheep, Lincoln Mr Nelson was nominated for the latter, and the Secretary directed to correspond with Messrs Peate and J, N, Williams as to nominating judges for the two classes. Merino sheep, Messrs J. Guild and Jn'o. Williams (Tiraumea) ; Bomney Marsh, Messrs T, Burker and T. Forde; Pigs, C. Cundy and H. 11, Jackson; Poultry, A. Elkius and B. Boys; aheep-dogs, R. •McLaren and J. Harvey, sen.; greyhounds and terriers, Messrs Andrews and Thistle; implements, Mr F, Shaw; buggies, buggy harness, and saddlery, judges of light horses; scoured wool, Mr Miles (Murray, Roberts 'and Co.); rabbit essay, Mr F, G. Moore; miscellaneous, Mr H. F. Logan; Messrs Bairstowe and Kennedy. The estimated income of 1881-82, which was then considered, showed a very satisfactory state of affairs, The next question taken under consideration was the shifting or rebuilding of the publicans' and refreshment booths. After considerable discussion it was resolved to remove the preseiiHjooths and erect others at a cost not exceeding 150, Messrs Boys, Booth, Armstrong, and Braithwaite being appointed a building committee,
After tho conclusion of the meeting the members present adjourned to the show ground, when the site for the booths was agreed on, the outer point being in it line with, and 83 yards distant from, the southern end of in an easterly direction. The~Building Committee meet at the White Hart Hotel on Saturday next-, at 2 p.m. It was resolved that if Mr Armstrong had not already had the sale of privilege?, it should be given to him on the present occasion, if he had an auctioneer's liconse, falling either of which events the sale should be conducted by Mr J. lorns. Messrs Boys an.l Snodgrass were appointed a lunch committee, The clearing of the road from the Belvidere road to the main entrance to the show ground was left to the Secretary to supervise.
The meeting adjourned shortly aftor 4 o'clock,
