FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS. RACING MATIERS. The Wellington Racing Club decided last evening to increase the stakes for the Cup at the summer meeting to LSOO, and the Hutt Park Stakes from Vjo to LIOO. The Stewards will act as handicappers for the ensuing Spring Meeting.

New Plymouth. The statement that Tito Kowaru had gone to Parihaka with 200 armed followers is utterly without foundation, and the report that Daniells was attacked by a native with an axe is denied, though Daniells himself gave the information to the Taranaki Herald. The Native Minister deprecates the sensational reports which are now circulating.
. McGAHEY ACQUITTED, Hokitika. McGaliey, accused of murdering John 801 l from jealousy, near Re.rfton, was yesterday acquitted and discharged, after waiting trial in prison for pearly six months. BODY FOUND./jL. : hody- of Kerns,
