PROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS. PRESIDENT GARFIELD'S FUNERAL. . .. RINDERPEST. FARMERS ALLIANCE. London, Sept. 27. The funeral of President Garfield at Cleveland, Ohio, was attended by 17,000 persons, 1500 oi whom, wero notable personages, including foreign representatives. Business was suspended throughout the States, also partially in London and the chief oities of England. Rinderpest is causing great alarm throughout England, The Farmers' Alliance, which is an . influential organiiation, urges the Government to prepare a Land Bill extending to England and Scotland of the same principles adopted in the Irish Land Bill. The Association is also in favor of a protective poiioy.
It is estimated that the Amerioan cern crap will show a deficiency of five hundred 'million bushels compared with last year.
