WaIRARAPa <k EASi' COAST PASTORAL ANU AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY., A meeting of.the Show Committee was held yesterday. W. 0. Buchanan (President), Pharazyn, Boys, N. Grace, H. Braithwaite, J. Stuckey, J,' Donald, A. v Matthews, R R, Armstrong, and H. McMaster. The minutes of the last meeting having been read and confirmed, discussions arose' on several of them, which occupied the time of the meeting until nearly lunch time. The first question .debated was that prohibiting -owners .being', in charge of stock exhibited during the judging, and requiring servants, to' remain in charge until after it was completed. The upshot was that the resolution,'Reentered in the minuto-bouk was upheld. The next point under discussion was as to the entries being made only at Carterton. It having been explained that the main object of this was to prevent invalid entries being niado, as the deputies in Grey town and Masterton only had the matter under notice for a week or two, while the Secretary was cognisant of it from year's end to year's end, and no mistakes had been mado in former years in filling in the entry papers, in contravention to which it was pointed out that if exhibitors were careless in making their entries they must abide by the result. It was resolved that tho resolution us passed at the last meeting bo rescinded, and that entries be made at Masterton, Groytown, and Carterton, as in ■past years. Tho resolution passed at the last meeting (on the motion of Mr Stuckey) as to the division of tho sheep judging, was then bmught forward. After considerable discussion, it was ultimately resolved that one judge be appointed for each of the four classes, viz., Lincoln, Merino, Outawold, and Roinney Marsh if neeeasary; but that at the same time it be an instruction to the Secretary that Merinos or Cotswolds be combined with Lincoln or Roinney Marsh where practicable. The resignation of Mr A. Johnston as a mernber of the, Society was accepted. A letter was read fron) Mr A, R. Hislop, enclosing sketches of medals with prices attached. The question of gold medals instead of silver was then brought up, Mr Pharazyn proposing, and Mr Braithwaite seconding, that the resolution proposing that twelve gold medals bu given be rescinded, which was carried. Mr Pharazyn then proposed that there be only three gold medals given, of the value of L 5 5s each, to be apportioned atnong horses, cattle, and sheep—one |n e'aqhqlass— to be computed on the highest number of points, This was withdrawn, and the President then proposed, Mr Grace seconding—"That seven gold medals, not exceeding the value'of L 5 5s eich, one for each of the following classes :—Thoroughbred entire, draught entire, shorthorn bull, and Roinney Marsh, Lincoln, Cotswold, and Merino rams,"
Mr Boys moved as an amendment, and Mr Braithwaite seconded—That the sun) of L 3 3s be inserted in the' resolution, instead of L 5 ss.
