.-• Mr Levin waited on the Board, nskin» for work to bo done on the Belvedere mad, and the matter was adjourned for the Wardens to inquire into the matter. Mr Hooper applied to the Board, requesting that Mr Chew be called on to remove his tramway at once. Mr Beard wrote that he and others were willing to give nine feet in width for widening Belvedere road from the main road to the railway station, and it was resolved that the offer be. accepted and the expenses of the work defrayed out of the toll gate fund, The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Zabell requiring him to clear the timber off the Hiuau Gully road that had fallen from his land. A letter was read from the Wairarapa West County Council requesting the Board to set aside a portion of the tolls from the Waiohine toll gate fortho maintenance of the present and the buildin» of another btidgo, and also infoming the Board that £IOO had been voted for the ropair of the Gladstone road. Messrs Reynolds, Kayo, and Buchanan were authorised to expend the latter sum, Mr R. Davis was authorised to erect a verandah over the pathway in front of his house, and Mr Reynolds, with Mr Anderson, surveyor, to lay off tho gravel pit in Francis' line, Instructions to the clerk to write toMrs Leppionthat her services would be dispensed with as toll-keeper at the Black Bridge after the 31st proximo, as the Board intended to abolish the toll, brought to a close the most important meeting, so far as the public are concerned, that the Board has held for a long time past,

Tho Jeneral Drapery occu- . pies a large space, being 49 leet by 25 feet, >' amply sufficient (or all Manchester goods, IrUfency Dresses, Bilks, Gloves, Hosiery, >• Ribbous, Laces, Ac. Tho Men's, Boy's, and ; Youths' Clothing Department measures 24 ' feet by 14 feet, and has attached a comf-rt- ;.' ablo fitting-room. Carpets and Household : furnishings have a similar space allotted to them. The Show-room for tho sale of Mil- ; linery, Mantles, Jackets, Costumes, &c., is a very spacious apartment, elegantly fitted up, and beautifully lighted from thoioof, and measures 39 feet by 22 feet, Tho stocli . of goods s at all times largo and well selected, and patterns are forwarded post • free on application.
