MASTERTON RABBIT DISTRICT.
A meeting of Trustees uf the above district was held, on Present—Messrs Stucfcey (Chairman), Cave, Welch, Hood, and Holmes. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, OOBEEBPONDBNOB. ' Outward—To Mr Tuofc, enclosing an account of,expenses incurred in killing rabbits on his land at Rangitumau, and requesting payment thereof. One to the Colonial Seoretafy, asking the Government to put up for sale certain lands in the Rangitumau Block, which is greatly infested by rabbits. Inwards - Prom Mr R. Campbell, stating that he had not prepared any report for presentation, at this- meeting. Two telegrams from the.Hon John Johnston, relative to steps taken by him to ensure the destruction of rabbits on his lani?, • ■ ■■ ■ , • The Secretary was instructed to acknowledge receipt of telegrams, and state that Mr Hood had consented to make arrangement's in accordance with Mr Johnston's request. ; ■■ Upon the application of Mr J. V. Smith, the Ittspeo'tor granted a certificate under section 20 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1880, for. 19 dogs .employed solely in killing rabbits. The applications for the appointment of Inspector were, then considered. • Those sent in by the most eligible persons were selected,• and a ballot taken,-which resulted in the election of Mr"Henry Bannister, whb'was then instructed verbally as to his immediate future movements. Authorities to enter, on lands, jn the district for the purpose of ascertaining if rabbits are thereupon, were 'signed and handed to several.Trustees.' .
