Mr 0. The Trustees of the Oastlepoint Rabbit District met at Tenui ; on "Saturday last. The business was chiefly to receive the Inepector'ii report,' and to consider if the funds would warrant the continuation 61 the -b'oniia -of 3d askin for- rabbits, after the en.d of the year. It. tvaa.resolyed; that a notice should be published in the "Daily" to the effect that all claims against the Trustees for skins be sent in not later that the 3lst December, and that after that date the bonus would cease. •

The New Zealand Times has recently' taken up,th9';c'afie'-of ; .Mr Jones, fish-, -mongerfof Masterton.'whose misfortunes are tolerably well-known in-,this neighborhood: Our contemporary has opened a subscription-list, yhich wijl prbbably be ktreipely serviceable, to Ms family; We •may;state that a to'easure of help from this ; township has already been accordedito this case, but the claim is of-so- exceptional a characterJhat further assistance, will be by no means qut gf placo, and tie hope tlie go'od example recently-set in Wellington will be followed in the Wairarapa, At a meeting of the Stewards of the Opaki races held last', evening, it was decided to' ask the Mayor of Masterton to proclaim the race day apublio holiday, It was also arranged that a more convenient ground for the booths should be pegged off, bo that tlje line of them would run with the course, / The saddling paddock too, is to be enlarged and improved. Nearly £7O was received in entries, and it is evident that the Club this year is Btrong euongh to make the races.a grand success in every way. The funeral of the late Mr George Crawford took place last Wednesday, the : cortege, which consisted of the hearse and; twelve carriages, leaving the deceased's late residence in Ingestre-stveefc at 9.30. The route taken was by Cuba, Manners,; and Willis streets and. the.
