One swam ashore and the others clung to the top of the mast till they were, rescued, - - District Judge Matisford has returned from New Plymouth,: Major Atkinson and Hon Mr Bryce returned to-doy. A man named Edmonds (now in the hospital) , has , made a statement that he fell and broke his leg, and then the police locked him up for drunkenness. An enquiry is probable. The Supreme Oourt case, Oorpe v Muldrock, is still unfinished.. The trial of the arrested Maori fencers commenced at Sew Plymouth to-day.- It is possible that the case will break down through a technical difficulty. The purser's bureau on the Rotomahana was forced open at Auckland and a cash box containing £6O stolen. A fire broke out in a dwelling house this morning, but only the roof was damcgeci.
