In the House of Commons to-day the Marquis of Hartington, Secretary of State for India, in reply to a question, said the exact date for the evacuation, of Cabul by the British troops is not yet fixed. It has been announced that the European Conference will despatch a special commission to Greece to settle the frontier question. As the result of the circular note which was sent by the British Government last month to tho European Powers—specifying the means for the solution of the Greek, Montenegrin, and Armenian questions—the Great Powers have now presented a collective note to the Sultan, informing him that lie will be held responsible for the'serious delay that has taken place with the cession of the territory to Montenegro, and for his failure to execute the necessary reforms in Armenia, The Mte further states that the Great Powers will insist ou striet execution of the Treaty of Berlin by Turkey. The Sultan has not yet replied to the note. CALCUTTA. June 12. The report which was recently circulated to the effect that Ayoub Khan was making preparations to wrest Candahar from the descendants of Shere Ali is now confirmed. Latest intelligence from Afghanistan, however, states that owing to defections from supporters, Ayoub Khan's movement has totally collapsed. MELBOURNE.
