[from our own correspondent] WELLINGTON. Friday, The customs returns show reoeipta for the past mouth to be £17,760, compared with £19,938 for the corresponding month of last year. The revenue for the quarter amounted to £44,015, as compared with £59,02? for the corresponding quarter last year. . The Royal Commission on native affairs returned to Wellington with their staff this morning in the Waikato, The Government have given instructions for 36 women and 60 children, being the wives and families of the first batch of unemployed sent to the Waimate Plains, to be forwarded to Few Plymouth by the Hinemoa. A horrible occurence took place on the Wellington Terrace last night. Catherine McOoll, a single woman, aged 60, housekeeper for an old settler named John McLaggan, was found burnt to death early this morning in the sitting room. The woman was given to intemperance, and is supposed to have set fire to herself while attempting to go to bed, Inquest now proceeding. Aehild named Emily Miller was run over by a cart to-day in John-street. Her neck was broken and death instantaneous, . F. Greaves, of Nelson, travelling on the train from FoxtOn to Palmerston, fell between the carriages and was killed. Although the accident happened on Wednesday, no news of it was received here until to-day. LONDON.
