PUBLIC MEETING.

A public meeting was held in the County Council offices on Saturday, at 3 30 p.m. ; to consider the- advisability, of bringing the Rabbit; Act into force in the Master-; ton Highway District.' Chamberlain, seconded by. Mr R. Campbell, Mr R, G. Williams'was' voted to the chair, and after stating that Mr Vallance was unavoidably detained in Wellington by ill-health, briefly stated the reasons for calling the meeting, The following resolution was then proposed by Mr J. Stuckey, seconded by, Mr R. Welch.— ;: . ~ ■

" That in the opinion of this meeting, it is desirable, in the absence of Mr Variance (the convenor of this meeting), that it stand adjourned to Saturday next, the 3rd of April at--2-o'clock, p.m.', at the Town Ha!l r andthat-a Committee, consisting of Messrs Joseph Bennett, E. Chamberlain, S, Dodgshun, W, Day, Jas, Stuckey, A. Stuart, C. A. Yallance, B. Welch, and J, Holmes (three to form a quorum), be appointed to draw up a "report, to be submitted for the approval of the said meeting," The Committee hold a meeting on Thursday next, at 2 o'clock p. m, '
