AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING. (per press agency.) Auckland, Friday. The Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting took place to-day. It rained in' the morning, but waa fine in the afternoon. The attendance was large. Maiden Plate. Walter's Libeller 1 Lennard's Kenilworth ... 2 Smith's Maid of Honor ... S Six ran Time, 2mins 27secs, Handicap Hurdle Race. Loch Lomond 1 Ray's Lone Hand and Butler's Agent also ran. The race ended in a tie between Lone Hand and Loch Lomond. The former declined to run it off, leaving the stakes, 90 bovs, to the latter horse. Time, 4mins 30secs. Auckland Oar—Of 300 sovs. Edgar's Ariel... 1 Butler's Laertes 2 Mclvor's Balmoral 3 Thirteen horses started. Templeton, Pinfire, Maritan'a, and five others were scratched. A great race was witnessed. Hippocampus started a favorite, and led once round, but had then to succumb! Lara, another favorite, had a bad start. Ariel held the third place till entering the straight, when Matthews brought him to the front, and whipped him first past the judge, with Laerte3 in company, Balmoral a couple of lengths behind. Time, 4mins Course very heavy going.

The Hurry Scurry was contested by six horses, and was won by McGregor's Old Time, A landlady of an Auckland hotel, while crossing the course, was knocked over by Gillie Galium, the well-known racehorse, owned by the landlord of the Albert Hotel.

The totalisator was well patronised at Waikato. Gentlemen testing its modus operandi won a good sum on Ariel, and will recommend turf clubs to- take totalisatora under their special cognizance, the club to receive a commission.
