CASTLE POINT HIGHWAY BOARD.

A meeting- of the above Board was held 1 it Tintii on Saturday last, Present - I Messrs Butters (chairman), Belliss, Arm- I itrong, Greenland, Langdon, Smyth, and I Bennett. I The minutes of the previous meeting 8 me read and confirmed. 8 The Treasurer reported the balance inr- ,1 bank £1463, and balance available fori j futuro expenditure £626 7s Bd. | The Overseer's report and wages bills - were read and passed. The following correspondence was then read Letter from Mr Wilsone, requesting to I be furnished with a return of the amount Bxpended on the Mungapakeha road. From Mr Baker, stating that the Ferry j boat had not arrived yet, and requesting that it be forwarded immediately; also re license fee for the Perry Hotel at Ohonga. ' From Mr Mackay, requesting that some repairs be made on the Lower Whareama road. That Mr Baker's letters be forwarded to the County Council for their consideration. That the Overseer be instructed to j ascertain the probable cost of making a cutting ovor Blackler's Hill on the Matai- ' kuna-Pakowai line, and report to next meeting. That a sum of fivo pounds be expended ; in opening a portion of Marunanga lino, No 6 Ward. That a sum of £2O be expended in'repairs on the Mataikona-Pakowai line,from the beach to the top of Packspur. That the Board request the Council to state whether the road leaving the Mungapakeha at Gibson's bridge and through Mr Groves' property, as laid off by Mr King has been abandoned, and if so, has formal notice been given. The Clerk was directed to call for ten- v ders for metalling about 30 chains of road "ii the Castle Point main line,

ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed and paid Castle Point store ; repairs Tiraumea road; J. A. Perry, salary and men's wages; repairs No 1 Ward; Mungapa* kelia road. The Clerk was instructed to make the annual v.iluatio n of all properties within the district.
