CASTLE POINT HIGHWAY BOARD.
A meeting of the Board was held 01 Saturday last, at the Public Hall, Tinui Present Messrs Butters (Chairman) Bellis, Greenland, and Langdon,
The Chairman read a letter from Mr McHutchon, stating that Mr James Langdon had been duly elected warden for No 2 Ward, in place of Mr Groves resigned. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Treasurer reported'balance in bank to be £l,OlO 9s 7d, and balance available for future expenditure £1,022 7s 9d. The Overseer's report and wages bill were read and passed. OVEESEEUSHIP. The following applications for the office of overseer of works were received and read ;-J. G. Allen, C. J. Freeth. T, Lynch, W. McKendrick, W. Cullen, J. A. Perry, M. McKenzie, A. J. Skipper, John Bell, J. M. Lynch, M. R. Ashwin, F. Bedford, James Farrell, and Joseph Morris. After considerable discussion it was resolved to accept Mr J. A. Perry's application, at £l4O per annum. correspondence. Letter from the Treasury, stating that the subsidy due to the 31st December, had been placed to the credit of the Hoard.—From Peter Johnston, stating that he was unable tn get timber through to the lower end of the Muugapakeha Valley from the Taueru to complete his contract, on account of the impassable state of the A.iansjupukeha road, and requested that sumo repairs be made to enable a dray to get through.-From F. Chapman, requesting that a bridge be repaired on the Upper Taueru Road.— From the Colonial Secretary re Local Elections Act.—From John Groves, re estimated costs of repairs done on Driti line.—From Lyon & Blair re stamp,— From the County Council, with account for boat.—From J. Bennet re repairing the Mangapakeha road,—From Messrs Elder & Co,, re road laid off to Mr Andrew's property.—From Mr Mackay, re the letter read from Messre Elder & Co,—From Mr A. Napier re the grant to Sandy Creek bridge.—From Mr Telford, applying for a road to be laid off to his property.—Telegram from Mr King re plans of road.

That the consideration of • }Jr Drummond's letter he again postponed in the absence of No 1 Warden.—That au additional sura of £lO be "ranted for completing the necessary repairs on tho Qhnnga; hill.—That the Overseer be instructed to make certain repairs on the Mangapakeha road.—That the sum of £5 be granted for repairiiiL' the bridge on the Upper Tiue'ru Line. - That the Treasurer of the County Council be informed that there are at present no funds to meet the account. — That Mr Mackay receive the information asked for.—That Mr Telford's application stand over.—That £2O be expended in repairing the Tinui-Alfredton line.—That ten pounds he granted for alterations required near Mr O'Connor's house on the Castle Point road.—That thirty pounds be expended en the Kaitawa-Tiraumea line.
