MASTERTON LIBRARY.
A meeting of the Masterton Library Committee was held on Tuesday evening last. Present: Messrs Feist (chairman), Boddington, Bennett, Renall, Vile, McGregor, and Hales, The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was received from the Borough
Council enclosing a cheque for £53, on account of rates collected; and one from Mr 0. R. Carter, presenting two copies of a book written by donor, entitled " Round the World Leisurely." The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr Carter, conveying the thanks of the Committee for the work presented, The following accounts were presented and passed for payment; M, Oaselberg & Co,, £4 10b; J. Payton & Go., 13s. it was resolved that a charge of 5s per meeting should be made to persons desirous of using the Committee Room, but that public bodies be exempt from this charge. Messrs Boddington, Feist,- and Hales were appointed a Sub-Committee to make arrangements for liquidating the present overdraft, and report at a special meeting of the Committee to be called for that purpose, It was resolved that the Sub-Committee be authorised to attend to any necessary alterations, &c. in the internal arrangements of the library and reading rooms, Mr Boddington proposed, seconded by Mr Bennett—" That the custodian's salary be raised to £4O per annum."—Carried unanimously.
