GREYTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held on Monday. Present: His Worship the Mayor, Crs Barnard, Baillie, Gray, T. Kempton, jun,, J, Smith, Fuller, and R, V. Smith. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE—OUTWARDS. Nil, INWARDS, From Under-Secretary, with Gazette containing notification re gravel reserve, and vesting the same in the Council temporarily, From West County Council re Hospital subsidy, From contractor of the footway, suggesting that the kerbing should not be cut, and that lie would provide bolts half an inch longer to avoid it. Cr Kempton gave notice that he would move at next meeting that a map of tho Borough be procured.

It was resolved, on the motion of Cr R, Y. Smith, seconded by Or Kempton, that the overseer to the Council he appointed overseer to the footway. Or Barnard spoke of the footway being evidently lower than the crown of the road.

It was explained that the road would be very little higher when the work was. finished, It was resolved, on the motion of Cr Gray, seconded by Cr Fuller, that the clerk be instructed to request the Postmaster to remove the telegraph poles to the edge of the kerbing. It was resolved that a cheque for £3 Is 6d for hospital subsidy be forwarded to West County Council. It was resolved on the motion of Cr Gray, seconded by Cr J. Smith, that the alteration suggested in the specification of footway by the contractor be allowed. It was resolved on the motion of Cr J. Smith, seconded by Cr Kempton, that the cottages be advertised in the wanted columns of the Standard at 5s per week for one month. It was resolved on the motion of Cr J. Smith, seconded by Cr Kempton, that Crs Baillie and Gray be requested to interview the overseer re timber for culvert, and instruct the clerk to order same, The meeting then adjourned.
