The New Zealander says that " The Financial Statement made by the Colonial Treasurer was full of Bound and fuiy, signifying nothing." We are sorry to see any respectable journal so carried away by party feeling as to deceive the public with such an utter misstatement. Does a deficiency of nearly a million in our revenue for the current year 'signify nothing V The Wellington journals, with the exception of the Evening Post, are influenced by strong party bias. In ihe case of the N. Z. Times, however, this bias does not go so far as to suppress truth and misrepresent facts. It is a bad thing fji' the colony that so many journals i-hould give a slavish instead of an independent support to political parties.
