MASTERTON CEMETERY.
The' following rules and for the management of the Masterton Cemetery will bo submitted for consideration and approval to the next meeting of the Board of Trustees
1. The portion of land set apart as a cemetery by the Governor's proclamation, dated 15th February, 1878,- shall be
divided into allotments and be available for interment for denominations as follows (1.) Episcopalians (2.) Roman Catholics . (3) Wesleyans i (4.) Presbyterians (6.) Strangers and other denominations. 2, The scale of fees payable for interment shall be as follows
I . id, For the ground occupied as an . ordinary grave ... ... 010 0 For digging grave and filling in same after burial, depth 5 feet 010 0 Every extra foot 0 2 0 For permission to erect a grave stone or cross to ordinary grave. 100 For the purchase of the exclusive right of interment in perpetuity, or for a limited period, with permission to dig, make, or erect brick grave, vault,or paling fence subject to the approval of the Trustees, space 9 feet by 9 feet 800 Ditto, for space not less than 3 feet by 9 feet 2 5 0 Every additional foot 0 15 0 3. No brick grave vault, paling fence, cross, tombstone, or other monument, shall be dug, made, or erected until permission of the Trustees is first had and all fees paid.
4. A drawing of every' stone, tomb, pedestal, and plan of every fence, monument, or tablet proposed to be erected, and a copy of every epitaph or inscription must be submitted to the Trustees for approval.
5. Any purchaser of private ground in which 110 interment has taken place may transfer his or her interest in said ground to ilny other person of the same denomination upon payment being made to the treasurer of the cemetery for the time being of a fee of 5s for such transfer. b. No grave shall under any circumstances be opened for any new interment sooner than after the expiry of seven years from the time of the first or last interment, as the case may be. 7. AH monuments, graves, gravestones, and paling fences must be kept in proper order and condition by and at the expense of the owner.
8. The treasurer to the cemetery for the time being shall keep a book in which he shall enter from time to time the number of every lot sold, the name of the purchaser, and the date of sale. He shall keep a record of the burials in the cemetery.
9. The treasurer to the cemetery for the time being shall receive thb purchase money for the sale of such lots, and shall give the following receipt for the same, which receipt shall be conclusive evidence of the purchase of the lot mentioned therein
Masterton, dated. Received from AB, of , the sum of , for that piece of ground set apart for the denomination of , and being numbered on the plan of said cemetery in the custody of the Trustees, to be held by the said AB for the purpose of burial only and subject to the rules and regulations then in force for the management of said cemetery. 10. All applications for interment shall be made to the custodian in charge at least twenty-four hours before the hour of burial.
11. No vehicle or liorse shall be allowed within the boundaries of the cemetery. 12. The custodian will prevent the entrance of any vehicle, and will turn out or impound any horse, cattle, sheep, or swine that may be found trespassing in the cemetery. No dogs will be suffered therein.
13. No one but the person .authorised by the Trustees, being the custodian for the time being, will be permitted to dig graves in the cemetery, 14. The record book shall be open for the inspection of the public on paying a fee of Is Gd for each inspection ; for a copy of register Is; re-opening grave or vault 20s,
16. A statement of all receipts and disbursements for each year, ending the 31st December, shall be submitted by the treasurer in the month of January to a meeting of the Trustees, when an auditor shall be chosen to audit the same, and such account shall be open for the inspection of an officer duly appointed by the Governor, 16- The secretary to the Trustees for the time being shall be empowered to convene all necessary meetings, either by advertisement in some local paper, or by written circular to eacli member of the Board,
17. The Trustees reserve the right to make and alter from time to time the above chaises and regulations.
