(prom our own correspondent.) September 30, The Board met yesterday, all the Commissioners being present. Three small contracts on Carter's, Arnold's, and Bambry's lines were reported completed, and payment to the contractors directed, The question of obtaining a gravel pit for the use of the Boards was discussed ;' the matter was adjourned to.next meeting, the Chairman (Mr R. Fiiirbrother) in the meantime to investigate as to locality best suited to the convenience of the Board, The meeting then adjourned.

The Committee of the Volunteers met yesterday; present—Captain Snodgraas, Lieutenant Ward, Messrs Moore, and Gole, the successful tenderer for making the uniforms (Mr N. King) being in attendance. Fisk, having been voted to the chair, briefly stated the object for which the meeting had been called, and on discussion the following resolutions were passed :

" That an Association lie formed for the purpose of prospecting the gold and coal bearing capacity of the Tarawa Ranges in the vicinity of the Taratahi-Carterton district."

" That ah advertisement be inserted in the Wjiiravapa papers convening a meeting at Mr Ray's Hotel for Monday, the Gth proximo,: at 7.30., for the purpose of electing a committee, secretary, and trea-. surer, and drawing up prospectuses of the proposed Association."

The names of several settlers were proposed as a committee; some of those present at once consented to act, and the temporary secretary was instructed' to correspond with t'\e others who had been proposed. It was suggested that the shares be £1 each; 2s 6rt on application, 2s Od on allotment, and the balance to bo called up as necessary.
