GREYTOWN GEMETERY.
To the Editor oftk Wairahapa Daily,
Sie, —I don't for a moment question the opinion expressed in your foot note to my last re Greytown Park and Cemetery, but I have inferred from your correspondent's rcuiarks s tli!it the Masterton reserves wore in advance of Greytown, That portion of land which constitutes the Masterton cemetery proper was only handed over by the Governor to the Trustees early in 1878, since when fences and gates, have been erected, walks formed, and about seven hundred shrubs and trees planted, so that I think our present Trustees deserve some praise for their zeal and attention. The old burying ground—not being under anv management—was not a credit to the district, as parties who had friends interred there did not appear to take any interest outside the little enclosure they claimed by right of interment. This apathy appears to me to still exist with Beveral owners, as the fences are in a most dilapidated state, and disgraceful aa a Christian burying ground. I think the Trustees would he doing their duty if they considered this matter.—lara/sSc., Observer.
