MR SHUTE, AND THE CEMETERY TRUSTEES.

— (To the Editor of the Wairarapa it) Sir,—ln a recent issue I observe that reference is maoflPP a claim of the late custodian against .the Cemetery Trust. It is quite true, I believe, that Mr Shute's account remains unsettled, but 1 assure you the fault is entirely on his side. In the account submitted, t tliere vera two or three items requiring due explanation, and the Secretary was requested to refer the matter to him, which he did, as well as having spoken to Mr Shute on several occasions on the subject, but he absolutely refusei to give the.required information, and threatens all sorts of pains and penalties against the Trustees. You were good enough, in several locals of your journal, to inform the public of the last meeting of the Board ; but Mr Shute did not think it worth his while to attend.

The Trustees are generally very punctual in settling all claims against the Trust with reasonable and social men, but in this case, they appear to be rather un - fortunate. It is, however, to be hoped that Mr Shute will now see his way to comply with the reasonable request of the Trustees, and if he does, there will be no delay, I assure, in his account being passed. I am, ifcc., A Trustee.
