Wool—Few inferior lots, mixed lleece and parcels, realised up to 5.U1, but, as usual, at this time of the year very little was brought forward, Sheepskins— Butchers, 2/G to 3/1' each; dry crossbred skins, 2}d to 3d per lb,; pelts and shortwool skins Gd to 1/10 each, Hides-Demand is slack, but good heavy weights (iulbs and upwards sell well at 3d per lb. Tallow—No demand. Grain—Oats in fair supply, for good feed, 3/; chick wheat, 3/ to 3/4, mcdcrat3 demand. Chaff— £5/10 to £G per ton for hydraulic pressed, Brandon announces that he will seek reelection for Wellington Country Districts; Izard opposes lnm. It is rumoured a requisition is being got up for Gillon also to stand, Small detachment of Armed Constabulary and a lot of bell tents were forwarded to-day to l'atoa. There are already 400 names on the list of members of the newly formed Liberal Association.

Messrs Robert Graham, \Y, Buchanan, and Br Wallis arc already spoken of as candidates, PATBA, Wednesday Major Atkinson held a very successful meeting at Carlyle last night, over two hundred electors being present. Sherwood's supporters mustered in force. Atkinson was very successful: he condemned the Government in strong terms, more especially condemning the Native administration. On the conclusion of his speech a vote of confidence was proposed, hut Sherwood's supporters moved that it be only a vote of thanks. The
voting was oven, This being Sherwood's stronghold it is not thought probable that ho will be returned.
