Francis' account of £4, for securing the bank of the Waipoua, your committee have no knowledge of, and desire the Council to look into the matter. Izard and Beard's account for £2 7s 6d, against the late Local Board, your committee advises should be handed to the Town Clerk, in order to obtain further information. Your committee have also advised the payment of £25 to the Masterton Hospital. Overdraft at the bank £657 9s 7d. D. McGregor, Chairman of Committee, overseer's report, Ibeg to report on the works in construction. Messrs Tinsley and Lancely have commenced their contract on the west aide of Queen-street, and have from 5 to C chains of kerbing laid down. Mr Cullen has commenced his contract on the East side of Queen-street, and has from 3 to 4 chains of kerbing down. The South end of Chapel-street is being pushed on with, aud in the course of a week will be completed, The approacne3-in lorns 1 estate

are completed. The holes and gullies in the road from Mr Woodroofe'a to the Waipoua river are being pushed on with, and in two days will be completed. I have examined the road at your request, and find that Miss Jeans' fence is five feet on the road. Two men are still stone-break-ing on the Upper Plain, The Manaia road is getting into a bad state, and will soon want repairing. . Ihave&c, ■ George Hutton, Overseer.
