MASTERTON BAND MEETING.
A meeting was held at tho Club Hotel last evening for tho purpose of reorganising tho Masterton Brass Band. Mr R. G, Williams was voted to the Chair, and after reading the advertisement convening the meeting, explained the reasons for calling it, pointing L out that the members of tho Band had ceased practice, and the Trustees had collected nearly all the instruments. He thought it a great pity that tho Band should have collapsed, and after reading the deed executed sometime since by Mrßockel—who purchased the instruments on behalf of the Band—conveying the same to the Trustees, called upon some gentleman to move a resolution or make a suggestion as to the course to be adopted by the meoting. After some discussion concerning the original appointment of the Trustees, and as to whether the Band, under tho circumstances mentioned above, was still in existenceMr Gray moved, and Mrßentley seconded—"That it being generally understood that the old Band was defunct, a committee be appointed to consist of Messrs Bockel, Oorbctt, Linn, Francis, Elkins, and the Chairman, to form a new Band, to. report at a public meeting to bo held that day week, same time and place." Carried unanimously. A vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the proceedings. Committee Meeting. .
