Masterton, March G, 1879. [Before H. S. Wardell, Esq,,R,M.] Constable Scale v. John H. P. James. —Charge of arson.. Dismissed, no evidence being offered except the admission of prisoner that he accidentally set fire to Hastwell & Macara's straw stack.
A, D. Cowan v. J, E P," James,— Forging and uttering a cheque, Charge withdrawn.
Arthur Coppins v. William McDonald. —Larceny of a pair of boots at the late fire. Dismissed, the evidence not being sufficient for a conviction. Constable Scale v. Daniel Burketi— Drunk while in charge of a team. Fined 50s and costs.
Smno v. Same.—Resisting the police. Dismissed on costs being paid. Constable Scale v. William Keppie.— Illegally on premises of Messrs' Sellar and Hales, Sentenced to one months' hard labor.
M. Caselberg v. Pettet—Judgment summon, L9l2s 8d. 4 Order made. J. T. Shaw v. Davey—Debt L 3 19s. Mr Beard for plaintiff, Mr Skipper for defendant. Judgment for amount and costs.
Jas, Ewington v. Henry Jones—Debt L2O. Mr Board for plaintiff, Mr Bunny for defendant. Judgment for LlO and costs.
Falloon'Hill and Co., v. Samuel Wavelie —Debt LBlos. Judgment confessed. Same v. Turangatahi—Debt L 7 ss, Judgment confessed. Same v. Thomas Joyce—Debt LBl6s 3d. Judgment for ainoung and costs. Same v. Ihaia Whakamairu.—Delit, Ll3 2s Od, Judgement confessed, Robert Allen v. lorns & Fergusson.— Damages LSO. Mr Beard for plaintiff, Mr Skipper for defendant, In this case a question was raised a3 to whether an auctioneer was liable for the non-fulfill-ment of a contract entered into on behalf of a principal. Judgement was given against defendants for L4G and costs.
