WHAT'S IN A NAME.

[To Ik Editor of the Waikaiota Daily) Miisterioii,.Jiui, 23.

Snt,—Do the members of the Municipal Council know what inconvenience they aro causing to tho public by their absurd proceeding iure-nsming the public streets'! It is not the confusion in the mind of tho individual who thinks he is in Bridgestreet and linds that it has been changed' to Queen-street, and that a yard forward will put him into High-street, without a turn to right .or left, that, is of any importance. It is tho confusion with regard to the ■ transfer of property abutting on streets thus affected' that,is to be feared.' A sells a section to I!, who is astranger to the place, and tells him it is situated in Queen-street. When the plan or the title is examined it turns out that it is in Bridge-street, and an explanation follows. This does not end tho difficulty, for in tho case of all transfers the change' of name will have to bc'fully proved in order to make the title porfect. Surely our Councillors could find other and moro profitable subjects wherewith to occupy their time!—l am, Ac., One Intekestm).
