The General Election.
At last electian 338* votes ware sast iu Waitaki Electorate out of a roll number of 4000. Of these Hon. VV. J. Steward aecvred 2139, a majority over Mr Campbell of 1427 and an absolute majority of 894. At the County Council Chambers here 457 votes were cast, and at the Courthouse 466. On the lioenaing question the voting was : Continuance, 1799 ; Reduction, 1106 ; No-Licen-e, 1519. To carry Prohibition in Waitaki this election would require a decrease of the Continuance vote by about -150 and a corresponding increase in No-License vote. '
