The Industries and Commerce Department are advised by cable message from the Agent-General that importations from the River Plate into the United King lorn during the month of Oc ob,r were as follows :-Mutton 311,120 carcases, of which 14(5,920 carcases were lanled at Liverpool, 50,526 at London -iq i-,74 a t Southampton; lamb, tit carcass landed at London. The average prices realised lov these shipments were mutton 4*d, lamb s£d. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cable message rom the Agent General, dated November l,f—"The mutton market is firm and speculative. The quantity of mufon going into consumption _at present i, fma'l. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 4 7 Bd, Mortn Island 4jfd. The lamb market is weak, and there » a dull sale for all lamb The stocks of lamb on hand are light and n Sy held in few hands. The average mice to dav for New Zealand lamb, Serbury brand, is s{d ; other than Canterbury, 5Jd. The beef market is SS Sew Zealand hinds, 4£d; fores, 4d The butter market is steady.
