It is stated that the Waimate Cooperative Association have set up a committee to confer with the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association on the question of the latter taking over the Waimate Association. The Waimate A. and P. Association's annual Show takes placs tomorrow on their grounds, Gorge Boad. Record prize money and record entries give the Show the most promise of any held here, and a record attendance of the public is assured if the day is fine.
Messrs Guinness and LeCren, Ltd., report having today sold to Mr Owen McKee, on behalf of the Assets Realisation Board, Sections 8 and 18, Waihaorunga Estate, containing about 649 acres, at a satisfactory figure.
To-morrow night in the Oddfellows' Hall a musical and dramatic entertainment will be given. The proceeds are for the Waimate District High School Cadet Corps Uniform Fund, and those who are interested in seeing our young soldiers properly clothed should make a point of attending. Arrangements-are being made for a match with the'' Timaru Civil Service Cricket Club tcf. be played hero on Monday the 10th inst. The names of the team will appear in Saturday's issue. On the same day the local club send a team to Oarnuru to try conclusions with an eleven from the Oarnaru Club.
An extraordinary election of the Kapua School Committee resulted in the election of Messrs T. Dugdale, G. Manchester, J. Tavendale, T. W. Kuegler and W. Gale. With one exception the old committee were re-elected, a fact which goes to prove that they had the confidence of the householders. Mr W. Gale was re-elected chairman.
Messrs R. W. Hutt and Co., tailors and clothiers, desire to thank thennumerous patrons for the support given them since commencing business.
