Inquest at Morven.

An inquest touching the deaih of Florence Marshall was held at Morven on Tuesday. Mr I. H. Manchester was chosen foreman of the jury. George E4win Marshall, husband of tne deceased, deposed*- that his wife retired at about 9.15, and that she made no complaint as to feeling unwell. He went out to see after the cows at about 5.30 a.m., and returned ■to the house at 7.15. He went to the bedroom and found his wife lying on her side. He called her, but got no ausw.er. He got aoine brandy and gave to-heT, and also rubbed her chest and breast with it. Ele then went to Mr Henderson, who sent for the doctor. Dr. Margaret Oruiskshank deposed that she received an urgent message at about 8.30 a.m. on the 6th inst to attend Mrs Marshall, who was thought to be dying. She reached. Morven a little afr.er 10 a.m. Upon examination she found Mrs Marshall dead, and she had probably been dead for three or four hours. The surface of the body was pale, suggesting death from some form of syncope. Mrs Henderson and Mra Seaman were at the house when she arrived, and said they had not moved the body. Deceased wa; lying on her left side in an easy position. Her face was calm, and the attitude of the body suggested sudden death. Post mortem lividity was becoming well marked. The body was well nourished'and there were no external signs of violence, and no signs suggeetive of poisoi.ing. She had attended deceased some six months ago, and considered her a healthy woman. She did not know of her having any heart trouble. She had been instructed to hold a post mortem examination. Upon examination of the heart evidence was found of death from syncope. The lungs and heart were healthy, but somewhat enlarged. Upon opening the artery into the lungs she found evidence of a clot of blood which had been formed before death ; all the other organs were quite healthy. In her opinion death ' was caused by a clot of blood passing to the heart, thereby inducing syncope. The jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, " That death was caused by failure of the heart."
