WAIMATJS WEEKLY AUOTION Messrs Guinness and LeCren, Limited, report that at their sale there was only a fair yarding owing to the horse parade taking place at the usual sale time The following are a few of the prices obtained : Pigs—A gdod entry, and prices were up to late rates ; stores 15s, weaners from 5s to 13s Cattle—One cow to calve shortly, £5 15s Poultry—Hens 2s to 3s 4d per pair, drab s Is 3d each Produce —Potatoes, first quality 7s 6d, second quality from 5s to 6s 6d ; swede*, 2s to 2s 6d per bag ; carrots, 3s 3d per bag ; fowl wheat, 10s to 11s 6d per bag There were also offered on account of owners two or three stallions, but they were passed in, not reaching prices desired TIMARU GRAIN MARKETS. There is lit* le fresh to report on the week, the markets being pretty well stationary. In wheat late rates remain firm, namely 4a <sd to 4s 3£d for prime velvet, and 4s Id to 4s for Tuscan and Red Chaff. Holders of prime linos are not many and they are apparently not anxious to rush business. Fowl wheal meets a steady sale at 2s 9d to 3s 3d, according to sample There is a much better enquiry for good bright samples) oa*s, but very few sales are made, growers holding out firmly for 2s 6d f.o.b. Discoloured oats have been sold at 2s 3d f.o b., sacks sd. There is no change to report in barley, feed being still at 2s 9d and no demand for mail incr. The market for potatoes has fluctualg# considerably duiing the week, the lice on offer yesterday being 80s per ton at country stations. Holders however are asking for 85s, which demand prevents much business being done.
