The General Election.

Hawera, October 3. Mr Brodie’s name was mentioned as a likely candidate. Delegates from branches of the Union in the Haw'era electorate also met. At the outset there was a diversity of opinion, some delegates holding that the Union should not as a body support any particular candidate, but have freedom to vote for any candidate who subscribed to the Union’s platform. Eventually, Mr Dive (Astbury), and Mr Parlane, were nominated by the branches. Questions will be submitted to ail declared candidates, and a selection will be made at a meeting in a fortnight.
