MORVEN. Although Friday night was most unsuitable for travelling it did not seem to affect the spinsters’ ball, which was held in the schoolroom, for there was a large attendance The dancing was a little late in starting, the Grand March not taking place till 9 p.m., but this was made up at the other end, the function lasting till d. 30 a.m. Excellent music was supplied by Messrs Nelson and Wells, Mr Sevman making a capable M.C. The nnangemen's for the dance were made by a committee of ladies, with Miss L. Seaman as secretary and assisted by Messrs Wells, Arnott, Seaman and several others Mr Nicoll supplied refreshments on a liberal scale. Daring the evening songs were sung by Messrs Davis, Clemsha, McDonough and Cronin and a recitation given by Mr P. Burke. A vote of thanks to the ladies was unanimously carried at the close of the entertainment:
